Checking Papers
By Kimberly

Clip to ScrapBook
I don't know what grade you teach or if this would work for you, but I teach 2nd and my students trade papers and check one another's work. This provides definite immediate feedback, takes about 5 minutes, and saves me 30
minutes every evening. Of course, every once in a while I throw in a surprise check and I grade them all. I can still walk around and see who had dificulty with a concept and it gives me a lot less to lug home every night.

Just in case you are interested, once the kids trade papers, the grader writes his/her name at the bottom of the paper they are checking so I know who to go to

for "problem papers". I am very specific and show them what they are and are NOT allowed to do on someone else's paper and they really like the opportunity to be teacher.
