Me again
By MITeach

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach 5th grade, the "coordinator" teaches 4th grade, gen. ed. I'm not really sure what she "coordinates" (personal opinion only, but basically I think she just wants some extra $$.) The student came in with no English
to our school last year, to that 4th grade teacher's classroom. This year the student does have a pretty good grasp of English, however writing and reading are difficult for the student. Basically the teacher makes phone calls home, when necessary to translate (or at least that was the given purpose...I'm not really sure the extent of her knowledge of Spanish, and as I know it as well...I
could probably do just as good of a job.) She will also translate notes home for me, however, that's about it.

Thank you so much for your advice. It is helpful to know that I'm not being crazy thinking that we should be providing some English instruciton during the day.
