I'm looking forward to your insights- I used the choosing a just right book suggesion of using shoes along with my usual lesson from Fountas and Pinnell- it was very successful- so visual and recognizable by the children. I have also been practicing Silent Reading for shorter periods to build stamina as thy say and I must say it is getting better each time, even with two who are ADHD.I have assumed all these years that they should know how to be at silent reading having had it in first and second grade, but like most leaning, I shouldn't assume full carryover in any area. The children meet with success more often with these small segments of practice done throughout the day. I am begining modeling aspects of Writers Workshop this week and will incorporate some of heir management ideas.I'll let you know!:s)
