centers
By Susan R.

Clip to ScrapBook
I have used a listening center (books on tape), math center (games/activities), art and creative writing center (stocked with supplies and writing prompts for each week), reading center (6X8 rug with large pillows and several
book shelves), computer center (activity changes each week), science and social studies center (science and social studies books and things like magnets, shells, magnifying glasses, scales, maps, etc.) I rotate each group of 4-5 kids through the centers each week...like group A goes to writing on Monday, to listening on Tuesday, etc. They are always encouraged to read silently at
their seats with books selected from the reading center. (The only ones who can go into the center and lay on the pillows are the ones who are scheduled in that center for the day.)
