Year-long theme

There was a second grade teacher who did a theme on countries/continents. I tried it and it worked beautifully. You can plan country studies around holidays and hit each continent. Sometimes more than one country. In Asia, for example, there are many cultural areas. Southwest Asia is mostly Arab, Northern Asia is Russian and East Asia is more Chinese influence. Use literature, homes/communities, animals, etc. Mailbox has lots of stuff.
