We do Star too- the school is requiring the test for the students each quarter (to fulfill other requirements). I have a 4/5 split and my range is from PP level to 5.4 for the highest student. I would say 17 of my 21 kids are at the PP to 2.5 level. Two are in the 3. level somewhere, and one in 4., one is 5.4.
My school is unique in that they are immersed in another language from preschool to grade 3 or 4, and then they are given formal English instruction. For all but 5 of my kids, this is their first year of English instruction, and, as you can see, I have a huge range, weighted heavily on the low side.
