establish routines
By Dee Dee

Clip to ScrapBook
Everything that you do the first day should be to establish the routine. Here are some examples: how to take your chair down from the desk, how to walk to your cubby (after you assign them), how to sit on the rug in the meeting
area, how to sit in your seat ( no feet on the chair, feet must be on the floor, hands still, eyes front), how to line up, how to walk in the hallway, how to answer by raising your hand, etc. the kids will want to take home something written so plan something accordingly. Explain exactly how yu want it all done and model it. You will be very glad that you take the time to do all
this. It makes your teaching more enjoyable if you get the class to respond to the routines.

Yes, read the archives under first day. Most importantly, plan, plan, plan. Overplanning is great too. Good luck.
