When my kids come in they start 'Kids Time' which is essentially an activity or project of their choice in the room...This gives them time to settle in, socialize a bit before we begin our daily routines; so if a child hasn't completed something from the day before, we have time together to clarify and finish, so they start their day anew...We have lots of strategy games to play-chess, checkers, parchese, connect four; plus writing materials to create cards for all occasions; among other things.
