    I keep my door closed. I am the first door at the top of the stairs. There is a lot of traffic by my door and if it didn't distract the kids, I know it would distract me.

    I think it's just a habit. I started out teaching in a portable and when I finally moved indoors, I just shut my door. The teacher across the hall came from a district where locking the doors was required so she always locks her door.

    If it makes you more comfortable to have the door shut, by all means close the door.
