To me, first grade is the highest calling. By linda2671

| I love the fact that they come into first grade knowing almost nothing, and they leave able to read, write, add, subtract, tell time, and count money. They are practically helpless at the beginning and they are on their way to becoming independent people at the end. In what other grade level do we actually see the progress on a daily or weekly basis. I do think it's a lot of hard work. You can't give them something to do and sit down to grade papers. You can't let them do the grading or the bulletin boards, or anything else like that. But the rewards far outweigh the challenges. I've taught first grade for 15 years and I wouldn't do anything else.
