Observations

Tenured teachers have to be observed at least once. Our contract doesn't specify announced or unannounced, the principal decides that. Two of our elementary principals come one time announced to teachers in their schools, the third one does two where she "may" announce the week she is coming. She has been known to come totally unnannounced, however. Untenured teachers are observed four times. Some are announced, but some are not. Our principal lets us invite her in if you are tenured. I try to do it early in the year, and then I don't worry about it.
