What operating system is running on each of them? (If they are orange, I'm assuming they are pretty old and are probably running OS 9, or maybe even OS8) To check, go to the Apple in the top left corner and click on About this Mac. You should also check the Processor speed and the Memory (also under About this Mac). It just sounds like yellow bird just doesn't have a fast enough processor or enough RAM.
Macs do not need defragging, but there are other tricks to try.
