It was always in our contract that the district had to pay a single insurance policy, but a few years ago, the teachers backed down during negotiations and that was taken out. Now we negotiate every year if they will pay the full price or not. So far they have paid it. I think now that it is almost $500. If we were to have family, we would have to pay for that and I don't think anyone takes family insurance because it is close to $1,000!
