I just replaced my boards this week. A 4x8 foot sheet was $13.00. I put up three boards in the front of my room over the old chalkboards. The leftover pieces I cut into small boards for the students to use. I just sanded the edges with sandpaper and they should not be too sharp for the kids. One tip is that they are very easy to cut. We scored(sp???)the edge of the front several times with just a pocket knife. We then kind of bent it back and forth until it broke. The reason you must do the front is that when it does break some of the edge is not perfect. You would want that to be on the back and not on the white front. I then sanded the edges down with the sand paper. I also used the old boards that I took down to cover two bookcases that did not have backs on them. Now they can serve two purposes-storage and the kids can write on the back if they aren't up against a wall:s)
