My mom and I just had this discussion...

I told her she should come to my district, because she's getting a raw deal where she's at...we have the same health insurance plan, by the way, and I have my daughter on mine, and she has my dad on hers...I pay 145 a month...she| pays...411 a month...of course...because she works in a cafeteria, she only brings home 441 a month...so she is literally paying ALMOST as much for her health insurance as she is making A MONTH Her district pays HARDLY nothing for their part...mine pays a great deal more...I think mine pays like 92%...I think hers pays like 50%...to me, that just seems wrong, of course, she has | |
to keep it for her and my dad, because he has nothing else...and he had to have a 5 artery bypass, kidney stent, and has diabetes and heart medications...and was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea, and has to sleep with a breathing machine mask thing...AND...because he hasn't been able to get any kind of monetary benefits from the VA yet...(he's a Vietnam vet...two purple hearts....and has been fighting for this for over 10 years....doesn't seem fair...does it????) By the way...he just GOT health insurance in April of 2004...and had the heart attack in August of the same year...before that he had not had any health insurance for over 10 years...that in itself was a blessing, or they never would've been able to help pay that bill...it was over 160,000 just for the emergency heart surgery...not to mention all the stuff that has followed since then.
needless to say, I'm quite happy about my insurance, and have tried to talk her into coming over my way...if for nothing else, the cheaper health insurance, and better pay...
