Even if initially you spend the money on something not consumable, I know at least in my situation that over the course of the year I will be spending at least that much for rewards, special events etc for my class... much of which IS consumable. So whatever I buy in the beginning that isn't consumable still goes with me. My name is on that poster/book/whatever. It's coming with me. My principals are really good though about that. They only want you to leave in your room what was there when you moved in or what they may have personally added during the year (new texts they ordered, furniture they ordered etc). I only get $100 but I know I spend more than that during the course of the year. It's very hard not to. Try sharing the books with the reproducibles. Make yourself a master copy and file it away. That's how I got around buying a bunch during my first year. I just asked around and someone always had something that I needed. :s)
