That show was unbelievable. I felt bad for that family. The dad seemed brainwashed by his new wife. Teens and even those in their early 20s have the logical part of their brains which are still developing and it's hard for them sometimes to cope. This girl has been through so much and I thought Dr. Phil was right on the mark when he said that her behavior is obviously spurned on at home because there's no magic switch and if she had a mental illness she would act out in public as well and not just at home. The way the step mom was downplaying anything good the girl did. It seemed as if she was pained to have to admit the girl had something right with her. I pray none of my students ever end up with a parent or step parent who feels this way about them. It's deplorable and frankly quite shocking. She's the adult in this situation. She should be able to admit the girl is trying to do some things right.
