My two cents By Suzanne

Hello! I think that this topic is a repeat. I think I've seen it before. I think there is too big of a discrepancy in the amount of money/funding schools receive. Through ProTeacher I have learned more about the huge| differences between school districts. I live in Northern NY. Although we still face budget issues, they are not even close to the issues that my sister-in-law's school faces just 45 minutes south of here, in our urban state capital. Why is it that I get $2,200 for supplies (including textbooks), and she gets a whopping $200, if that? It is so unfair! Although I don't think the answer | | to the crisis is completely money, it seems to me that with more money the urban school districts could pay teachers better, and allow them more supplies. Although I realize that parent support is critical, I also feel that it is often rare in poor school districts. Why not make the schools a more safe and effective environment for children? Why is it that there is such a difference in funding between low and middle class schools? It's so sad, and embarrassing. Suzanne
