My two cents
By Suzanne

Clip to ScrapBook
Hello! I think that this topic is a repeat. I think I've seen it before. I think there is too big of a discrepancy in the amount of money/funding schools receive. Through ProTeacher I have learned more about the huge
differences between school districts. I live in Northern NY. Although we still face budget issues, they are not even close to the issues that my sister-in-law's school faces just 45 minutes south of here, in our urban state capital. Why is it that I get $2,200 for supplies (including textbooks), and she gets a whopping $200, if that? It is so unfair! Although I don't think the answer
to the crisis is completely money, it seems to me that with more money the urban school districts could pay teachers better, and allow them more supplies. Although I realize that parent support is critical, I also feel that it is often rare in poor school districts. Why not make the schools a more safe and effective environment for children? Why is it that there is such a difference in funding between low and middle class schools? It's so sad, and embarrassing.
