    I would say that going to the board meeting might have helped my husband, but I don't know for sure. He is a band director, and anybody that teaches an extracurricular subject is held to a different accountability scale. So his case is not the norm for regular classroom teachers.

    I agree with apple324 that everyone should attend some school board meetings. It shows the board and administration that you are interested in what is going on in your district, and it is the only place you can really have a voice. There is usually an open forum at the beginning of the meeting for comments from the audience if you don't get on the agenda to formally address the board. But unless you are on the agenda, the board cannot take any formal action on anything you bring up.
