In the past, I've had students complete unfinished homework during recess. Unfortunately, we don't have a central location for this, so I lose my opportunity to make phone calls, copies, planning/prepping so that I can supervise students who are completing their homework. In addition, I've had parents tell me they don't have time to do homework in the evenings, so they prefer their children to complete their homework during recess. In my opinion, that takes the responsibility off of the student/parents and leaves it with me--again! So this year, I'm not allowing students to complete homework during recess. Instead, I will give them another evening to finish what is missing along with that day's homework. I will continue to offer rewards at the end of each trimester for those who have completed homework on a regular basis. (happy meals in the classroom, ice cream sundaes after lunch, etc.) For those who don't complete homework, their grades will reflect that.
