Usually, such defiant behavior can be remedied by contacting the parents/caretaker. I have been in such situations before, in K,1,2,3 and 5 - most of them will pay attention and do their work if you find out which of the parent/caretaker the defiant student is fearful to be reprimanded at home. Usually either the mother or the father. Seldom do I find BOTH will have a behavior effect on the defiant student. It is usually one of the two.
