    I know on the days I put up with "no nonsense" and immediately change cards to yellow the students fall into place and are really go for the rest of the day. I may have a fouth to half of the class on yellow in the first hour of school. Then I don't deal with poor behavior the rest of the day. I talk about it and joke with the class and say something like,"Wow, look at all the yellows. But guess what you're doing better now so everyone still gets to go out on this lovely day for recess." My system is green=good, yellow=warning, red=in for recess white=principal.
    If I don't nip the behavior in the bud quickly it escalates. I am a softy but when I am hard-nosed we have a great day. My problem is I am not really constistant and I should be.
