four blocks and phonics
By Kim

Clip to ScrapBook
Have you checked out the "Month By Month Phonics for First Grade" (Cunningham & Hall) book that goes with the Four Blocks series? It has some great ideas. Also there is a new book for the Making Words Block called something like "Systematic Phonics...Making Words" (Cunningham & Hall). "Phonics They Use" (Cunningham) is good too. Besides that, my first graders love Creative Teaching Press' "Fun Phonics" songs. I make charts on my computer with Print Shop and stick the songs in whenever there are a few extra minutes...before lunch, between specials, or at the end of the day. The kids refer to these songs when trying to decode a word.
