Calendar

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Kate,

I always begin by discussing what day it is, doing today is yesterday was and tomorrow will be. We then figure out the date and place the correct number on the calendar. I always arrange my numbers in a pattern.
For example in September the pattern was bus, apple, bus, apple etc. (each bus/apple having a number on it). For October our pattern is a little more complex, it is 3 umbrellas, 2 pumpkins, 3 umbrellas, 2 pumpkins. I pick a child to do each of these things. I have one child tell me what yesterday was, today is etc as well as tell me what picture will come next in our pattern and then what
number ( I usually pick a couple who are confident and then a few who are having trouble with the concepts.) Next we all say chorally, Today is October the 8th, 2001. We then all say yesterday was, today is etc. as I point to each day. We then sing the days of the week and months of the year songs and then do the weather. I am sure all people do it differently.

I hope I have helped a little.

Vanessa
