length of time to get room ready

The district gives us two days. However, they eat up one of those days with meetings. I find that I am back in the classroom for a couple of weeks before that to get everything ready. I don't mind doing that, however, we have an open house scheduled for the evening of our first work day. I resent the fact that they expect us to have our rooms ready and be prepared for an open house. I think they are taking it for granted that we will have our rooms ready on our own time.
