Interestingly enough, dry erase markers themselves also remove permanent marker ink. If you rub the dry erase marker over the permanent marker lines, then rub with a paper towel or cloth, the permanet marker will come off. Kind of creepy to think we're using those dry erase markers so much when they're actually a solvent! I've removed lots of no-longer-needed labeling on plastic tubs, laminated stuff, glass, etc., by scrubbing the permanent marker with a dry erase pen. I usually use black or blue since the red usually leaves a shadow, just like it does on the white board.
