In the past I have kept a writing portfolio of my first graders work. This is nice to share at conferences/open house. Childrent in first grade shouldn't be expected to spell everything correctly, and I enforce that to parents at the beginning of the year. I try to get them to develop a love of writing before working on grammar/spelling. It is developmental, and parents enjoy seeing their progress througout the year. Hope this info helps!Christine
