Morning duties

I do morning duties: Sharpen pencils, do lunch, pick a book for DEAR/exta time, etc. Also, I vary the skills they do by doing a handwriting practice once a week, a math message 2-3 times a week, and a skill sheet once a week, all in the morning. My kids come in, do their morning duties, and get started on some kind of work. It's routine and they know what to expect.
