Timers By Jill

I know it says NOT to use a time, and I wholeheartedly agree that they should get used to managing themselves and learning how much time they need at each center, etc. BUT I have been opening centers slowly and using a timer.| My reason is that because I have only four centers open right now, I want to make sure as many children as possible get to use those centers during the day. I am hoping to phase out the use of the timer as the year goes on. But I am a first year teacher just trying to muddle my way through, so I don't know if you want to put so much weight on my advice. I do think its true, though, | | that just because you introduce something a certain way in order to make it easier on YOU doesn't mean you can't change things later in the year when the kids are more independent.
