free exploration
By Janet

Clip to ScrapBook
Free exploration centers are when you just put tubs of material out and let them at it. I always introduce materials first with a discussion on how to use them properly. For the number stations we do each activity first in whole group (#4) Then students work on numbers 5 - 10 in centers. It takes about 4 weeks for students to get thru them. Then I add one center a week to replace finished centers. (patterning, weighing, stamp a number sentence, etc.)In all I only have 4 math centers going at one time. I hope this helps.
