Indiana
By Hylin

Clip to ScrapBook
I live in NW Indiana . The salary around here can vary greatly. Urban areas pay mid 30s, suburban areas up to 10,000 less than that. That's public school. I graduate in 2005, and took a job in a charter school, making 36,000
my first year. Raises are then based on performance throughout the year . I'm leaving that job this year but I'm seeking out a different charter school. It's hard to get public school jobs here and the pay is low.

On a sort of side note, I got a call from a lady who saw my resume posted on a site. She was the program coordinater at a live-in facility for emotional disturbed
children. They have on-site schooling for the kids. The job I was offered was to be the lead teacher for 12 students, ranging from 1st-3rd grade. The only help I would have was from a behavior specilist who would handle management and behavior problems. The kids went to school year round, except for the month of July. I would work 10 hour days, 5 days a week. The salary they offered....29,000. I nearly died.
