I like the 3 strike idea - and with magnetic tape they will be easy to use - one word of caution if you have computers in the room you'll have
Most students should not get near 3 strikes on most days - so this method would be great for those few students who need a lot of encouragement and reminders on their behaviour. If they have changed their behaviour and start to behave they can have a ball disappear as well - this is always good incentive. Now I may have misunderstood why you were using the 3 strike method - for myself it would be to for example encourage that student who is always wandering to stay in their desk. Or the student who talks outloud when they shouldn't be. First strike is a warning, second strike is the behaviour needs to stop now, third strike you miss something or lose a priviledge. I also like the paper chain idea - if it gets too much over time you could also do similar things with a display such as apple pictures and writing their good deeds on them or other cute pictures. It's a nice way for the kids to show off the good things they do.
