Technology can be your friend! No, really. You will be very fortunate if you have functional computers for your students to use in your classroom. I bought one from e-bay and donated it to my classroom so I could have school district tech support for it. I think the best program by far is kidspiration, or for older kids, inspiration. It is a wonderful writing tool that kids can use to mindmap their writing, summarize their learning. Go to http://www.inspiration.com to see what it has to offer. I think you will be pleased. I use the younger version, kidspiration, in my first grade classroom and the kids love it.
