Ginger Pye Summary By teacher_ mel

I read this as a read aloud to my 2nd/3rd graders a couple of years ago. Its about a family that finds a dog, they name her Ginger, (they are the Pyes) and she goes missing. The parents tell the kids she just ran off,| the kids are convinced someone took her. That's the basic plot, I may be off on some of the details!!! What I remember most about this book was that the kids described the person who took her as an "unsavory character," which I thought was so cute. So now whenever I see someone I think looks kind of suspicious, I automatically think--"that's an unsavory character"!!! I think its appropriate | | for no higher than 3rd grade but thats just my opinion. My kids enjoyed it, I was kind of bored by it, and there is a sequel that a few of my kids read and enjoyed.
