    Anyone share a classroom...

with another teacher so that you could both work part time? I have a friend from southern PA who shared a first grade classroom with another mommy of small children. One taught mornings, one taught afternoons. I have a friend in my district with small children, like myself, and we are very interested in proposing the idea of sharing a classroom to our administration. While we both would very much like to be home full-time, we have seen co-workers do this, and administration is not quick in rehiring them, and they are stuck subbing for several years. Also, I would like to work part-time, simply to make the money I need to cover our health care benefits. I would love to hear from any teachers who have done this, how it worked in your district, etc. I would especially love to hear from anyone who was a "pioneer" of this in your district, meaning you were the one that persuaded administration to go for it and got your wish! If anyone has any suggestions on how I can propose this attractively to my administration, I'd love to hear it! (I have already considered the money we would save the district because the district would not have to pay for our health plans if we were both part-time, and I am hoping that argument could work in our favor.) Or, if you've done this, and there were drawbacks, I'd love to hear those too. Thanks in advance!
