This is my second year here at year round school in Bakersfield, CA and I LOVE it! We get about 6 weeks off during the summer, 3 weeks off at the end of Sept., 2 weeks off for Christmas, and 3 weeks off at Easter. I find that I don't get as exhausted as I used to at traditional school. It is so nice for vacation planning because you are not locked into the so called high season for travel. I spent 10 days in Italy on my last vacation and it was wonderful.
You can choose to work half days during the two 3 week blocks we have off if you wish. And you can earn quite a lot of extra money if you do work the breaks (about $6,000) but you're not required to work them. If you don't work the breaks, then they call in subs.
