early finishers
By Cathy-Dee

Clip to ScrapBook
For the first few months I don't really have too much for them other than catching up other work, going to some of the centers or reading. They usually have some sort of colouring as well that they can work on.

Once I
have assessed where they are - I make up little extra workbooks at their level - the workbooks have extra phonic work, some comprehension reading, some word searches and other activities. I do one workbook for language arts and I also do a math one (but the math one is usually just extra addition and subtraction practice).

So they can work in these books when they finish their other work.

I try to make most of the sheets those they can do without too much extra help from myself so that I can work with any students who are finishing the main assignment.

I also sometimes have extra printing practice or journal writing as an extra activity.

Centers work sometimes, but they can become distracting for those still working so I do not always like to use them.
