i'm not sure of the exact name....

but at HOme Depot or Lowes, they have hard particle board that I have had cut into slates.(One side of it is slick, white board material.) I use them as individual slates for the students. I have also heard of others who have kept it as a long sheet and attach it to the chalk board with liquid nail.

Just wondering how well it works......
