Good Mix
By MsPropel

Clip to ScrapBook
I guess I do a mix of both, teaching from the carpet and from their desks. Calendar is always done at the carpet, as is shared reading, and the intro to my math lessons. I tend to do Writing, Language Arts, and Phonics
from their seats since I don't have an easel and I need to use the 4X6 whiteboard that I have (the only board I have). It depends on the lesson for Science and Social Studies. Usually I try to get them started on the carpet then off to their seats for partner/group work.

Unfortunately, since our day is so structured, it does not lend much time to reading picture books aloud.
I used to read from a chapter book when I taught K-1 and would love to get back into that again next year. I'm hoping there will be a little more slack in our schedule for something like that next year.

I teach 2nd grade.
