word walls

Clip to ScrapBook
Someone mentioned the '4-block' book, this is a must for you!! Read it if you're not familiar with it, but definatley look at the 'Working with Words' block of the program. It included a few easy games and uses for the wall
which are great. As you intro 5 new words per week these words are kept apart from the wall, then added. That way the kids really get used to the 5 words before they're added. These words can then be their spelling list (along with extra transfer words) each week. Get the book! Also, one mistake i've made in the past is not making my wall visible from EVERY point in the room. Make it
big, and make sure the words are on different colors (for your lower students.) I put my wall in felt this year, and will attach a velcro piece to my words-- that way i can move them around for alphabetizing.
