Student Teacher on IEP???

Have you ever heard of a student teacher that is on an IEP?? A teacher at my school had a student teacher this past semester. She was a young girl and at our middle school (inner city) the kids are often quite cruel. One| day I saw her run from the classroom, sobbing, making her way to the staff restroom. Later that day I asked the teacher what the students had said/done to the poor girl to upset her so. Nothing...she is failing her student teaching. The university has her on an IEP and just can't cut it. The teacher also told me that she has seen/heard of college IEP's in the past. I totally understand | |
the IEP concept, (since I have so many students on them), but I can't understand why a university would take this girl's money for 4 years and have her on an IEP. What are her chances of getting a job?? Does life carry an IEP? I felt so sorry for this girl but found the entire situation to be disturbing at the same time. Gee, I'd really like to hear anyone's opinion regarding this situation.
