A couple of years ago I was looking into putting my children on their own plan because of the cost of me carrying them on mine. Blue Cross/Blue Shield was very affordable (I'm in Texas). Unfortunately, my younger son was rejected because he didn't fit the height/weight requirements for someone of his age w/exercise induced asthma. Had to put him back on mine during open enrollment period.
