Welcome to 2nd grade! How many teachers will be on your team? Talk to them about how they do Open House. You may want to keep things sort of the same in your class. We worked on the newsletter together so it was from 2nd grade. At our school, the principal needs to ok every letter that goes home ahead of time too. Maybe you could see some sample letter from the teacher you are replacing for help. I like to give the parents handouts for Open House that explain grades, rules and procedures. That way they can follow along and they don't all sit there at stare at me. That can be a little intimidating at first. I agree, check the archives. There is a lot of good advice there. You'll love 2nd.
