I have seen a teacher use Ellison cut stars and post one each day around her room (high).

I have used adding machine tape across the top of my Calendar math board and counted up and back..ex. show 1 and under it show 180.

Perhaps you could sue Ellison cut bears or stars and change the colors for each fifth and tenth ones..counting by 5 or 10...Or use bears and stars and do odd and even numbers...
