Encyclopedia Brown

Clip to ScrapBook
Mandy... I am guessing you are from GA as my county uses the same "buzz words" as yours. I taught inferring to third graders this year using the Encyclopedia Brown books. I gave them a mini mystery to read with the solution not included. They made their prediction to the ending then we read the solution looking for the 'hints ' from the author. Many of them TOTALLY missed the mark with their guesses. They had so much fun they wanted to do this over and over again.
Another great book to teach inferencing is Professor Xargle, I forget the author, and The Stranger by Chris Van Allsburg. HTH!
