Toilet paper rolls smeared with peanutbutter and rolled in sunflower seeds make excellent feeders that can be tied into trees. You can hole punch the rolls before you start, and attach them to tree limbs with yarn. I still remember doing this with my mother when I was a child, and I also tried it with a group of preschoolers-they loved it...so did the birds! Good luck!
