It amazes me...

that our job is so important, and yet we make so little. After seeing some of the salaries I'm shocked at those of you that have so many years in and are making much less than I expected. I understand that demographics are
a big part of that. I'm in a historic town about 20 minutes away from Atlantic City. Our starting salary is 40K with just a BS. Teachers in our shore towns are making 80-90K when they reach about 15 years. Our top pay right now is 71K after 13 years. My husband is also a teacher and after 14 years he just hit 51K. It has been a tough 10 years of marriage, because we made so little in the
beginning. Our relationship always stayed strong, but we definitely did without and still do. Next year he goes to 60K and the year after he makes 68K and I think the year after that is 74K, so hopefully things will be better for us.
