student teacher
By Twinsmom

Clip to ScrapBook
I am also going to have a student teacher in the fall. I have never had one, but I remember when I did my student teaching. The cooperating university usually has a time line when for when the teacher is to complete certain
things. When I began my student teaching, I had about two weeks to observe and write up my long range plan and lesson plans. Then I did a slow transition leading up to full time teaching. About two weeks before I was to be done, I slowly phased out and the classroom teacher took back over. The student teacher's advisor from the university should be able to tell you what exactly to
expect and how to handle things. You should have plenty of time to establish your own rules and procedures before the student teacher comes. I know we spent about two weeks at the beginning of the semester at the university to learn what was expected of us, etc. Then we went into our assigned schools. Good luck!! I am a little nervous about this endeaver also.
