Morning routine By tweet

I also teach 3rd grade. I have a morning routing listed on a chart. It includes things like sharpening pencils, turning in homework, going to the bathroom. Listed last is Sit Down. We have math 1st period. When they| get to number 7(sit down), on the list, they get out their math folders and begin on the independent activities we start with daily. I will admit there is a lot of coming and going in my class first thing, but it's unavoidable. the kids can come into the room at 7:45, but the first bell doesn't ring until 8:00. Also, we have a lot of kids who eat breakfast at school, so there is a steady | | stream of them coming in. I allow my students to go to the bathroom, get a drink before 8:00 with no restrictions to avoid lots of unnecessary getting up later. By 5 to 8 I am usually asking, "Are you at number 7 yet?" Then it's "Get to number 7 now." Everyone is expected to be seated and working by 8. we have morning announcements at 8:05.
