Hello!
I normally have some type of morning work on their desks. I vary it within the subject areas but it is all review so they shouldn't need my assitance.

If I don't place work on their desks then I have them write a journal entry or do silent reading.

My students know to check the board each morning for any special notes, messages, etc.

I have a morning procedure (that we practice a great deal at the beginnning of the year!). By the time prayer and annoucements are over (I'm in a Catholic school) we are ready to start the day.
